Dr Anton Venter
Family Physician/Chief of Staff/Oncology
Dr Venter moved to Canada form South Africa in 1999. He worked in Chetwynd for 17 years before relocating his practise to Dawson Creek in 2016.
He has a passion for oncology, chronic disease management as well as complex care.
Dr Venter holds the following degrees: B Sc MEd, MB ChB, M Prax Med and CCFP.
He is the proud father of two and grandfather to one. His Wife Jackie occasionally joints us in the clinic as receptionist.
Dr Magda du Plessis
Family physician/Advanced Obstetrics/ER/Botox
Dr Du Plessis joined the Mile Zero Family in 2017 after relocating from Penticton BC. She originally qualified in South Africa and worked in the UK before relocating to Canada in 2010.
Her qualification include: MB ChB, DFM, CCFP. Dr Du Plessis has a passion for women’s health, pre and post natal care and aesthetics. She works in the clinic as well as ER/OR/Obstetrics.
Stanley Steenkamp and her two children McKenna and Stanley is the centre of her life when she is not at work.
NP Christy Demeter
Christy Demeter is a newly graduated Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University. As a born-and-raised Calgarian, she graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Mount Royal University in 2010. Most of Christy’s nursing career was in Calgary in Critical Care/Coronary Care, as well as Cardiac Diagnostics. In 2016 she relocated toDawson Creek and has taken a shining to the “small-town” life, enjoying working and living in a close-knit community as a RN in the Operating Room in Dawson Creek. Since graduating in June 2019 as a Nurse Practitioner, she has been working casually in the Orthopedic Surgeon’s office as well as in the Quesnel Primary Care Clinic which have been a great learning experience. Christy has a passion for Health Promotion and Illness Prevention, complex care of chronic disease management.
She also shares a love for animals, and has a 150lb Newfoundland mix and a St. Bernard/Border collie mix along with 3 cats! Christy loves the outdoors, traveling, photography, sports (yes, she’s a Flames fan!), and an occasional glass of wine. Christy is looking forward to this new experience, and thankful for the opportunity to provide care to the community!
Sydney is a pharmacist who joined the clinic in July 2019. She meets with patients to complete medication reviews, optimize medication therapy, manage drug interactions and side effects, and enhance patients’ understanding of their medications as well as support physician practice.
Sydney is originally from New Brunswick, and in her free time enjoys travelling, baking, playing piano and trumpet, and photography.
